Indigenous leadership: Interview with the Institute Manager

Last week Péta Phelan, Alumni Development Manager at the Melbourne Poche Centre for Indigenous Health sat down with the Indigenous Knowledge Institute’s Manager, Aurora Milroy.

The interview is part of a series produced by the Poche Centre exploring Indigenous leadership, health and wellbeing.

Péta and Aurora discuss concepts of Indigenous leadership, pathways for Indigenous people into higher education, and the role of non-Indigenous allies to decolonise institutions. Reflecting on the difference between Indigenous and western models of leadership, Aurora says, “An Indigenous approach to leadership is about working together. It’s about the systems that support and bolster you and make you feel stronger”.
